The fiber doesn’t fail but the laser optic transceivers do.

I thought the firewall was toast.  Overloaded by VPN traffic or something else odd.  It seemed like once a week Fawlty.us and more importantly Minecraft were down.  As I moved everything off the Davis network last night there shouldn’t have been any extra traffic to cause the firewall to be overloaded.  Yet periodically this morning the VPN Tunnels to the remote sites and the SSL VPN clients would disconnect and go down.  The Splashtop users would disconnect and not come back.  My VMWare console would not allow me to connect to remote servers.  Even my web browser would not work.

On again – Off again.  On again – Off again.  The robot started to run for the door….Robot-Running

Whatever could be causing this.  Looked in the firewall – finally restarted it.  No difference.  Then I put a PC on the external network and started to ping www.google.com

My 100Mbps fiberoptic Internet circuit is flapping.

Opened a ticket with our ISP and they found that they had a faulty card on the Curtis Park Central Office side of my 100 MB fiber link.  Yeah!
